Payment: We ask that you pay a deposit when you make your booking, and rest of payment locally to the rental station. 

Payment

The following forms of payment are generally accepted in Slovenia:

ACCEPTED:  MasterCard, Visa, Dinners, Maestro

*Maestro bank card is accepted only for local payment, in addition to it a credit card is mandatory (Visa, Mastercard, Diners) as it is required for guarantee / deposit.

NOT ACCEPTED: Pre-paid credit cards, Laser, debit, American Express , Switch cards

A valid credit card in the name of the main driver must be presented as guarantee for the rental. Our local car rental partner may reserve an amount of 300-1.000 Euro (depending on your selected car group) as guarantee, which will be released after the end of the rental period if no damage/theft has occurred.

In the event that you fail to present a valid credit card or lack of sufficient funds available on the credit card, car rental agent may refuse to release the vehicle. In these instances, no funds paid will be reimbursed.

Driver and Licence Requirements

All driving licences which have been issued within the European Community will be accepted.

International driving licences (IDP) will be accepted.

All National driving licences in Roman Alphabet and in a credit card format that are subject to the list of contracting parties to the convention on road traffic in Vienna, will be accepted.

All other National driving licences must be accompanied by a valid International Drivers Permit.

Minimum age 21 years, maximum age 75 years.

Drivers aged 18-20 or 75 and above will be charged € 10,00 per rental day – paid locally (max. 100€/rental)

Drivers must have held a full licence for a minimum of 1 year.

Drivers must also show their passport or national ID card on collection as additional proof of identity.

Toll Cost

To use highways in Slovenia an e-vignette (digital toll system) is required, this can be purchased / added to the rental agreement when you pick the car up. A fee of €16.00 per rental will apply for rentals of 1-6 days and €32.00 per rental for rentals of more than 7 days.
*for M1 group vehicle (VAN 8+1 persons) the cost is €32.00 for 1-6 rental days and €64.10 € for 7+ rental days.

Car types

Reservations are always confirmed for a given Car Group -not for a specific car model- The car on your voucher represents the vehicle for the class (Group) you have booked. We cannot guarantee a specific make or model. Any specific cars mentioned are simply typical examples of the size, specifications and performance applying to that car group.

Cross Border Policy

Cross border rentals are allowed within the European countries.  Travel to Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus is NOT ALLOWED.

Applicable fees for cross border travel are:

Croatia, Italy, Austria, Hungary: 30 EUR per rental. 
Additional fee of 40 EUR per rental for Switzerland and other EU countries (EXCEPT Bulgaria, Romania, Greece)

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, North Macedonia and Montenegro: 60 EUR per rental

Albania, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece: 140 EUR per rental

All charges above are inclusive of VAT

In case of traveling to multiple countries more than one cross border fee is added on the rental agreement depending on which countries the customer drives to. 

The cross border fees do not include toll costs out of Slovenia. The customer is responsible for paying highway and toll fees outside Slovenia, if applicable.

Prior written authorization is required (ask rental agent at the time of pickup).

Ferry travel:  prior notice is required, the cost is 50€/rental.

Collection Time

Vehicles will only be held available for up to two hours after the agreed collection time, clients must contact us if they will arrive before or after the registered time on the voucher.

Mileage Allowance

The Vehicle is provided with an unlimited Kilometer / Mileage Allowance.

Third Party Liability Insurance

THIRD PARTY INSURANCE (Required by Law): –

6. b) Third Party Property Damage €1.050.000,00

Roadside Assistance  24 hour roadside assistance is provided. 

Taxes & Surcharges  Bookings include all local taxes. 

Winter tyres are offered for free during the period of 15^th of November to 15^th of March and are included in the rates.

Additional driver fee 5,00€ per day per driver with maximum charge 150,00€ . Minimum age restrictions apply. 

Fuel Policy: Same level to same level

Fines and Penalties

You are responsible for the cost of any parking fines or other penalties incurred whilst the Vehicle is on rent to you. The supplier will pass the relevant charge on to you plus any administrative expenses and VAT amount.

Out of Hours Charge : Out of hours charge 50,00€ is applied outside the Office Opening Hours. 

Hotel  deliveries:  Hotel deliveries are available with an additional charge of 50€ per way (per service)

Special Requests

Special Requested items are available “On Request” and if applicable are Subject to Availability and Seasonal Variation, and will be provided by location. Special requests cannot be guaranteed. For most locations a security deposit is generally required.

Baby / Child / Booster Seats : Seats are available with an extra charge of 8,00€/day with max charge of 80,00€

Navigation System :  GPS is available with an extra charge of 10,00€/day with max charge of 80,00€
Snow Chains: Snow Chains are available with an extra charge of 50,00€/ per rental

Roof Racks  Not available   

Insurance

The customer understands that all insurance cover is provided by the company supplying the vehicle for rental and not Autounion car rental. Liability for claims in excess of the insurance cover purchased, rests with the hirer of the vehicle. Autounion car rental does not provide insurance cover of any kind in relation to the hire of the vehicle and is not liable for damages incurred in the event of an accident. 

Excess/Deposit amounts

SECURITY DEPOSITS (SD):  In each rental a credit card is essential. Deposit for car categories:

This are the base deposit amounts, the final deposit is defined with the amount above + local payment amount if it applies and fuel guarantee amount. 

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) with excess amount

Is included in the booking cost and reduces the financial liability up to a maximum of  (see below):  

CDW does not provide any coverage concerning damages provoked at the underside part of the vehicle, inside part of the vehicle-saloon, wind shields, mirrors and tires. Basic condition is that the damage is not due to infringement of Road Circulation Code. The Accident Statement should always be supplemented so that the insurances’ covers will be in effect. In case of car accident and damages police report is mandatory. Without police report the client takes full responsibility.

In case of accident, the client must contact the police and report the incident immediately, and submit a copy of the police report, the rental agreement to the rental location. CDW protection does not apply beyond the rental date agreed with the pickup location. For details of this insurance, please check with the supplier on collection of the Vehicle.

Additional Insurances

FULL DAMAGE WAIVER (FDW)

FDW limits the liability in case of accidents to €0 (Zero) by paying the daily amount dependant on the car group (listed below):

 WHEELS,UNDERSIDE,GLASS(WUG) :

AutoUnion Car rental provides an optional insurance which covers damages to wheels, tires, glasses or damages caused to the underside of the car as far as they were not done intentionally or as a result of negligence or oversight.This is available by paying the daily amount dependant on the car group (listed below):

**Please note that damages to the interior of the car (upholstery, dashboard, r/cd) as well as keys,  wheel cover, antennas,etc are not covered by any insurance unless they were caused in an accident. Therefore, despite the extra insurances, our car rental partner may still reserve an amount up to 300 euro for damages that are not covered by any other insurance.  

Exceptions in CDW, FDW, WUG :

Charges for any of the damages written below will be charged directly to the client, the most important are the following: Antenna, trays, damage to car lock, loss or damage to keys, windshield wipers, interior of the car, spare key and car jack, hubcap, lights, gas cap, damage to upholstery of a car, damages to the roof, damages caused by roof rack and any luggage on it, extreme dirtiness in the car, personal belongings in a rented car, damage due to negligence, fuel errors, damage to child seats and baby seats, lack of electricity because of forgotten turned on electrical devices, loss of car documents, loss of registration plate. The car rental company, in any case, is not obligated to replace a flat tyre or damages in music devices (radio, CD/mp3 player, etc.) Towing costs are not covered by any insurance. Autounion car rental will not refund any telephone, taxi or hotel costs.  Autounion car rental or the car rental company will not be held responsible for anyone driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, causing willful damage, off road driving, driving without care and attention or damages caused by negligence and traffic violations.  The client will accept direct responsibility in respect of such claims.  Any unnoticed accident or damage to the vehicle may be interpreted as negligence. This may result in a charge to the client.

Theft Protection (TP)

Is included in the booking cost, in the case of theft or fire, you must contact the police and report the incident immediately, and submit a copy of the police report, the rental agreement and the Vehicles keys to the rental location. Responsibility is non-waiverable in case of theft or damages due to a theft attempt (excess applies). Theft protection does not apply beyond the rental date agreed with the pickup location. For details of this insurance, please check with the supplier on collection of the Vehicle.　

Renter’s Obligation:

The vehicle should be used only by the renter or other additional drivers mentioned on the rental agreement. The vehicle is prohibited to be used, for infringement of provisions of the Slovenian Road Circulation Code, for purposes opposite to the Slovenia laws, for towing other vehicles, in order to transport heavy objects or baggage.

Cancellation policy

24 hours prior to arrival no cancellation fee is required, less than 24 hours a cancellation fee equal to the deposit given at the time of reservation/confirmation is required.
